Money where your mouth is...

I've been inspired by recent comments in 'Kos pages about grocery strikes, bookstore strikes and how to honor our brothers and sisters by supporting organizations that deal fairly with their workers.

Money talks, they say.  Well, these days Halliburton can overcharge for fuel in the $$hundreds of millions, but veterans and active duty military are having to battle for their pay and benefits... These days buying a giant gas-guzzling SUV can get you up to a $100,000 tax deduction, while a hybrid car purchase might get you $2000.  And the wealthy get the biggest rewards from Bushco, while the poor (and even the middle-class) get poorer.

As an individual, I don't have the buying power of a Soros... (hah! scarcely.  I'm unemployed, but still dragging a few bucks out of savings to contribute to party/candidate that can get us out of this mess!).

But as part of the great collective, I'm always interested in buying from organizations that use fair labor practices (union shops, no sweatshops, no child labor, etc.) as well as organizations that promote the general welfare including environmental concerns (fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee, for instance).  I'm especially interested in NOT supporting any organizations that don't have their priorities on straight.

Today I came across http://www.unionvoice.org and http://www.nosweatshop.com for online shopping that supports fair labor practices.  I thought I'd share them with you all, and ask if you have any of your own to share.  Holidaze coming up, an' all.  Thanks in advance.
